New Chair for West London CCG

NHS West London Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), which is responsible for planning and designing many health services across Kensington and Chelsea and Queen’s Park and Paddington, has elected a new Chair of its Governing Body.

Dr Fiona Butler, who has been a GP principal in a large training practice on the Earls Court and Chelsea border for the past 15 years, was elected uncontested to the post by GP representatives in the recent Governing Body elections. Dr Butler was previously Vice Chair of the CCG. Also elected were:

Dr Iain Blake (GP member)
Yvonne Fraser (practice manager)
Dr Rachael Garner (Vice Chair and GP member)
Dr Richard Hooker (GP member)
Dr Naomi Katz (Vice Chair and GP member)
Dr Philip Mackney (GP member)
Dr Puvana Rajakulendran (GP member)

A further GP and nurse representative, plus a salaried GP are to be recruited shortly.

The Governing Body makes the final decisions in the CCG, which is responsible for buying emergency care, planned hospital care, and community, mental health, learning disability and rehabilitation services for the 230,000 residents the CCG serves.

Dr Butler takes up the position from Dr Mark Sweeney, who said: “It has been a privilege to lead the development of West London CCG, and I would like to thank all my colleagues in the organisation for their hard work throughout the authorisation period and during the first few months as a statutory body. I am sorry to be stepping down but know I am leaving the organisation in very capable hands, and I wish Dr Butler all the best in her role as Chair.”

Dr Butler commented: “I am honoured to have been elected to the position of Chair, particularly as I was voted in by my GP peers. I will use my experience and knowledge of the local area to ensure that our patients receive high quality healthcare services in the right place and at the right time for them. I would like to thank Dr Sweeney for his drive and leadership in creating a solid foundation for West London CCG to build on as we move forward.”
